Welcome to Troop 136
Troop 136 is a long-standing Scouts BSA unit for boys in the Grove City area, chartered by First Presbyterian Church since the church began supporting Scouting in 1947. We are a youth-led troop where Scouts plan activities, lead meetings, and grow into leaders of character.
Our program centers on the outdoors, service, and the advancement trail that leads to Eagle Scout — Scouting’s highest rank.
What Scouts Experience
- Monthly campouts and outdoor adventures (hiking, backpacking, canoeing, and more)
- Leadership roles through the patrol method — Scouts lead Scouts
- Merit badges that teach practical skills and open career interests
- Service projects that benefit the church, community, and beyond
- Summer camp, high-adventure opportunities, and the path to Eagle Scout
Youth Leadership
Troop 136 is run by its youth leaders under the guidance of trained adult Scoutmasters and Assistant Scoutmasters. The Senior Patrol Leader and patrol leaders set the calendar, run meetings, and make decisions. Adults provide coaching, safety, and support so Scouts can succeed.
Joining Troop 136
Youth may join if they are at least 11 years old, or have completed the fifth grade and are at least 10, or have earned the Cub Scout Arrow of Light Award and are at least 10. New Scouts are welcomed year-round. We encourage families to visit a meeting and talk with the Scoutmaster.
Safety First
All registered adult leaders complete Youth Protection Training and background checks. We follow Scouting America’s two-deep leadership policy and the Guide to Safe Scouting on every outing.
